Jodhpur, India

The Blue City

Called the Blue City, Jodhpur is the second largest city in Rajasthan and is home to the magnificent 15th century Mehrangarh Fort which overlooks the city and where the Batman film The Dark Knight Rises was partly filmed.

Certainly worth visiting, the market area and centre are nicer than Udaipur and the Fort is far better, a photographers’ dream.

How to get there and Transportation

By Air - Spice and Air India fly from Mumbai, Delhi, Udaipur and Jaipur

By Bus - from Delhi

By Train - from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai. Palace on Wheels stops here.

Car - we drove to Udaipur which took approximately 5 hours.

Getting around

Taxis are the easiest and most comfortable way to get around. Buses are available but infrequent and auto rickshaws are unmetered to fix a price beforehand.
